Will Reed arrived but discovered he’d cleared his wellies out of the car so went home promising to return next week! Took in 2 bags of sand which were used up building up the Spiral Staircase. Coming along nicely. 1¾ hours.

Monday 21st January 2019

John Cooper, Mike Kousiounis, Wayne Starsmore and Adrian Vanderplank.

Although light on numbers we took in two bags of sand for future use. With Adrian filling, John on the ledge, Mike hauling and Wayne in The Pit 42 good loads were hauled up Four-Tonne Shaft to The Pit. At one point Mike said to Wayne “Now I know how you hurt your shoulder!” Once the bottom was clear and the target reached we cleared The Pit before coming out. A rather energetic 2 hours.

Claire Cohen, James Collings, John Cooper, Mike Kousiounis, Wayne Starsmore, Adrian Vanderplank and Jude Vanderplank.

Two bags of sand and battery angle grinder taken in (angle grinder used to remove the threaded stud at the lip of The Pit). Adrian and Jude building the spiral staircase. Started clearing spoil in the bottom shaft with John filling, Wayne hauling, Claire transferring and Mike stacking. After only 3 loads James arrived and took over from John who was then free to break up the big boulder and drag more boulders back from the face. Total of 42 loads hauled up the bottom shaft, similar amount remains. 2 hours.
