Spider Hole November 2021

Monday 30th May 2016

James Collings, John Cooper, Adrian Vanderplank and Jude Vanderplank. Moved some of the spoil from the bottom to the bottom of Four-Tonne Shaft. Still another session required but need to make some stacking space first. No fumes. 1¾ hours. John.

James, John, Jude & Myself. All down to the bottom of Four Ton shaft. With John C going to the bottom to clear the debris from 27/5’s bang. We managed to clear the majority of that spoil and we only had to stop due to limited space at the bottom of 4 ton shaft. Several clearing sessions will be required before we can dig at the bottom again. Adrian.

John Cooper, Michelle Crossman, Adrian Vanderplank and Jude Vanderplank. Michelle’s first time in Spider Hole so lifeline used on Nut Pitch and Four-Tonne Shaft. Michelle stopped at top of bottom pitch but Jude descended. Whilst Jude took Michelle out Adrian filled the holes at the bottom with cord which was fired from the ledge half-way up Four-Tonne Shaft. 1½ hours. John.

Jude, John, Michelle, Myself. Having managed to nag Mich for a while to come down Spider. All to the bottom of 4 ton shaft with Jude having a quick look at the very bottom! Myself to the bottom to charge the holes drilled previously whilst John wired up the det. With it all set up we retreated to the ledge to fire the charge (expecting to be chased out by the fumes). Fired the charge and left. No fumes smelt at all whilst exiting the cave which was quite surprising as I thought there was a good draught in the main cave. Adrian.
