Hellier, Tony Seddon, Wayne Starsmore and Adrian Vanderplank. Started by
clearing The Pit. The spoil nicely filled in behind the walls built last
Thursday. Then down to the bottom tunnel. Built up a nice stack of spoil ready
to haul up the bottom shaft next time. Some discussion on whether to go along
or down at the end. Will wait for cold weather and do a smoke test ie in a
month’s time when we have cleared the current spoil. 2¼ hours.
Thursday 10th October 2019
John Cooper, Adrian
Vanderplank and Jude Vanderplank. Jude came in to change the SRT ropes on Nut
pitch but had difficulty undoing a maillon so that didn’t get done. New rope
taken out again. Meanwhile Adrian and John used 3 mixes of cement building up
the Spiral Staircase. Only enough cement left for one mix. 1½ hours.
Monday 7th October 2019

Hellier, Wayne Starsmore and Adrian Vanderplank. Took in another 2 bags of
sand. With Adrian loading, John on the ledge, Wayne above him and Pete
transferring the loads to Rob a grand total of 73 tubs of spoil were dumped in
The Pit. The bottom of Four-Tonne shaft is clear again. Lack of time, or was it
will power, means The Pit remains to be emptied. Very drippy tonight. 2½ hours.
