Spider Hole November 2021

Monday 7th November 2016

James Collings, John Cooper, Simon Richards (Nik-Nak), Adrian Vanderplank and Jude Vanderplank. With Adrian filling at the bottom of Four-Tonne shaft and James stacking at the top 42 loads (light except for a couple of moderate boulders) were hauled up. Still plenty more to move on up. 2 hours. John.

John Cooper, NikNak, James Collings, Jude & Myself. An evening hauling spoil up Four Tonne Shaft. At the end of the session I had a chance to look at the bottom. As mentioned in my previous entry the bottom is narrowing in, on the Eastern side, with a large boulder / wall appearing in the floor on that side. In between that and the Western wall is mud and small rock, stal fill, which was holding a puddle in the floor. This was about 100mm deep. I poked this with the crowbar on the edge of the large boulder and having pushed this through about 600mm of mud hit open space and the water cleared immediately, so probably quite encouraging…I think! Adrian.
