Sent them in ahead of us. Found them on the ledge part way down Four-Tonne Shaft. One of them accompanied us to the bottom but the other two decided not to proceed. Nik Nak took in a bag of cement. John took in small bag with drill and bits; Adrian took in small bag with wire, cord and firer; Wayne took in box with 2 batteries. John drilled 2 x 10mm x 550mm plus 1 x 10mm x 300mm (limit of cord supplied). Didn’t need to use Adrian’s new battery. Adrian set charge watched by Nik Nak and Phil. 2¼ hours. John.

Three holes drilled on the R/H side under the alcove. Two 500mm and one about
300mm. Phil & I to the bottom where I connected the charge and then up to a
midway point in the bottom section of 4 tonne shaft from where we fired the
charge. Little draught tonight, temp outside 9°-10°C so very small amount of
