Survey
Monday 31st December 2018
Clair Cohen, John Cooper, Geoff Newton and Wayne
Starsmore. One mix of cement taken to the bottom which John used in building up
the shaft wall for using up spoil. Meanwhile the other three moved rock along
the bottom tunnel. There is now enough at the foot of the bottom shaft for
several hauling sessions! 2½ hours.
Thursday 27th December 2018
John Cooper, Adrian Vanderplank and Jude
Vanderplank. Whilst Adrian and John went to the bottom to break up the boulder
Jude added rock to the Spiral Staircase. 1½ hours.
Monday 24th December 2018
John Cooper, Courtenay James, Wayne Starsmore,
Adrian Vanderplank and Jude Vanderplank. Afternoon early start as Christmas
Eve. Never seen the bottom half of Four-Tonne Shaft running so wet! With
Adrian, John and Jude in the bottom tunnel, Courtenay hauling and Wayne
stacking, an estimated 36 loads dumped at the bottom of Four-Tonne before
Courtenay’s light misbehaved. The end boulder is now easily accessible. It’s
about 600mm x 600mm x 300mm thick and can be moved when tickled with a large
bar. Needs something a bit fiercer. 2¼ hours.
